Merry Christmas and Happy Pink Saturday

Merry Christmas and a Happy PInk Saturday too!!!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful time celebrating he birth of Christ in his/her own way.  We went to my daughters last night and took the two youngest girls to the Christmas pagent at church.  We had a great time.  Then when we came home we opened gifts to one another and had a great time.

Thank you Beverly of How Sweet The Sound for hosting Pink Saturday for us.  You are GREATLY appreciatd by all.

I'd like to share my favorite Christmas thing today, it's a set of deer that I made many years ago and I just love them.
These are my favorite Christmas decoration.  Believe it or not, I have three sets.  One blue, one pink (mine) and one gray:  My daughter has the blue set and I"ll be sending the other set to a friend of mine after the holidays.  They belonged to my mother and mother in law before they passed away. They are precious and fun.

We'll be spending the day at my brothers, where we'll have dinner and the family here in CA is gathering.  So:
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND MANY BLESSINGS FOR THE NEW YEAR.
hugz:)

MY LUFFA HAS MATURED!!

Whoooo hooooo my Luffa has matured and even though I only got the one, it turned out great.   I cut a small piece off when I was getting the seeds out because I couldn't reach the bottom with the spoon.   You're supposed to do it outside and use the high pressure of the hose to get the seeds out but since it was so cold and getting ready to rain, I decided the spoon and sink were my second best choice! lol

Well, I can only get blogger to take the one photo, so I'll post the other two later.  The big one is about 6 inches long and small one about 3 or so inches that I cut off the larger one.   whooo hoooo lol

Christmas pots:)   We've been getting the house decorated for Christmas and still have a ways to go:)
I just love this one, it's a creamer on the top and teapot on the bottom:)
This one is the one that Marydon at Blushing Rose .  I just love it, it's so cheery:)

This one is covered with raised poinsetias and is just lovely.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

This one in particular is so feminine:)  The flowers are poinsetias with holly.  Trimmed in Gold.

Pillowcases Are Done

Here are 6 of the 7 pillowcases I'm making out of the same fabric as in the quilt for my grandson.  Matthew will soon be 18, so his Christmas present this year is a new quilt for his bed and a ton of pilllows!!!! 7 new one's to be exact.lol
There are six here and I'll make one more white with black with the opposite edge.  It's been a real challenge.  My first machine conked out on me and needs repair, well then I pulled out my Janome Memory Craft 9000 and used it for quite a while, well then it went bonkers.   So we took it to Auburn, but they have no idea how long it will take because they have to go through the company regarding some things on it.   So my husband bought me a new Janome Gem 660 as an early Christmas present.  It sews like a dream.  It's lightweight, only has about 12-20 different stitches on it and sews like a dream!!!  Just like my big Janome.  (when it was working lol)  So between being without a machine, then I had to order the backing and it's going to take longer for that to get here. I totally spaced on that.   I have my granddaughters almost ready to go on the quilting frame and as soon as I do, I can quilt that one.   In the meantime, starting tomorrow I'll be working steadily getting Matthews quilt top done.    Have a good one folks:)

Happy Pink Saturday

WOW, does anybody know where this week has gone????   It's just flown by, I can't believe it's Fri. night all ready.  I'd like to share a beautiful little Quilting Angel by Jim Shore, it's even autographed.   She's so very pretty.
She arrived today in a ShoeBox full of other goodies that absolutely knocked my socks off!  I belong to the ShoeBox exchange and every month we put two FQ's in a shoebox(the receiver's color choice) and do that for 12 months.  We add a Christmas Gift that we've made for our person and any other little goodies we want to add into it. Well, to say my cup runneth over is an understatement.  I got everything from the fabrics to   a Quilters Survival Kit to this beautiful ornament/statue:)

Many thanks to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for hosting this and be sure you stop by and check out all the other blogs.  They're wonderful.   Happy Pink Saturday!

My Sewing Machine is Sick

My Janome Memory Craft 9000 is in the shop to be fixed.  It's the same problem I've dealt with over the years and just found out last night that there was a recall when the machine was sold.  I talked with the dealer and I was never notified about the recall, so she's going to try and see what she can do.   She'll call Janome and see if they'll do anything.  If not, it has to be fixed properly this time.  In the meantime since I don't know when I'm going to get it back, my husband bought me the Janome Gold Gem 660.  It's a nice little machine, just has a few extra stitches, which is fine with me, I've got plenty on my other one.
Isn't it cute:)
It's a little smaller than a standard machine and only weighs I believe 12 pounds.  So when I ordered it today I explaned to the gal what was going on and I have two quilts I HAVE to get done by Christmas.  She was a doll, she was going to try and get it sent out today, if not first thing in the morning.     So I have my fingers crossed I can get it by Monday, one of them.  The Gem will be a great backup though.  Have a good week all:)

I'm going to be sewing with a friend today and we have to post where we've started at and in between as we finish our projects.
This is where I am
at this point.  I need to stitch the final two pieces together to make the block.  Then will come the rows for the quilt.

Happy Pink Saturday

Well, I'm not posting pink or holiday just yet.  I have this quilt I'm working on for my grandson that I'd like to show you.  It's the Disappearing 9 Patch and very easy, just time consuming.   You sew the first 9 squares together like so:

Then you cut these into quarters
then the quarters are turned to make a new pattern and sewn together like so:

It's really a fun one and you can do so much with it.  Using multiple fabrics, using only three colors, childrens fabrics are adorable.    This is taking my time right now as it's for my grandson for Christmas and I have to have it done in time.  I also have one that I've made for my granddaughter and her's needs quilting, so I'll be busy until they're done.    Hope every has a wonderful Pink Saturday and be sure to stop by Beverly's to visit all the other bloggers at How Sweet The Sound .  There are some absolutely wonderful blogs, be sure and swing by.

Have a safe week end all and hope you had had a great Thanksgiving!

Beautiful Anniversary Present

These are pictures of the pumpkin my Granddaughter made us as an anniversary gift.  She made it in her art class at school.  Her work is truly gorgeous. Some of her pieces I'd love to have, but they belong to my ddaughter. lol   I wanted to share these with you.  You can see the curly cue's on the bback of the lid.
I love the stem!
On the leaf she etched Happy Anniversay Grandma and Grandpa which makes it even more special.

Happy Pink Saturday everyone and thank you Beverly, at How Sweet The Sound for doing this for us.

My Fall Quilt went to the Silent Auction

I was making a Falll Quilt and then I was asked to make one for the Silent Auction at church tonight.  Well, that was only about two or so weeks ago and I had no idea it was that soon.   So in order to get it done I had to  finish up one that I had started.  I hove a beautiful antiquey reds Disappearing 9 Patch that I wanted to use but do you think I could find where I put it?  NOT  So in order to keep the deadline I used the quilt I was making for myself.  My fall quilt.  It came out real pretty, in the picture the stripping in between the blocks looks black but it's actually a dark brown.
we took the pictures in a terrible hurry because my husband was going to take it over to the church for me.  So it's nota real good picture.

Be sure and go by Beverly's How Sweet The Sound and all the other wonderful  blogs. Thank you Beverly for doing this for all of us:)   Oh yes, time changes tonight so don't forget.  Have a great week end and Happy Pink Saturday!

Happy Halloween  to everyone too, we're having rain today, but it's supposed to clear by tomorrow.  I sure hope it does for all those young children all excited about Trick or Treating!

This is a set of cannisters that belonged to my mother, my siter tells me they are Bauer probably painted by the California Cleminsons, Betty and George (I believe).  My memory isn't that great so I wrote it down, but now I've misplaced my notebook. duuuh.  It IS one of those days. lol    I just love them though, they're so cheerful.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Pink Saturday and safe week end.  God Bless and keep you all.

My Fall Quilt

Happy Pink Saturday everyone!  Please be sure you stop by Beverly's How Sweet The Sound and check out all the other blogs too.  There are some awesome ones. Stop by and see Dee at Creative Crafting & No Sew Projects she's got some awesome videos and how to's to show you.

This is a picture of my "Fall Quilt" that I was so determined last year to make for myself.  I got it this far and fiinally got it on the frame the other day.

The churn dash in the block is actually a little oranger than it is the gold it shows in the photo.  I'm very happy with the way it's come out though.  I hope by this week end I'll have it quilted and then get the binding on it and use it! yaaaay!    lol   I've got to get busy on my grandson's black and white quilt.  He asked me for one earlier this year and I'm hoping to have it done for him by Christmas.  If not his 18th birthday is in March I'll have it for him then.    The goal is Christmas though.  I have a number of baby quilts to make for the Mozaic Church nursery.  I've lots of fabric for kids so they should come out pretty good, it's just a matter of finding the time to make them:)   Have a Happy Pink Saturday everyone and a Blessed week end.:)

Matthews Quilt

I'm finally getting started on Matthews quilt for Chirstmas.  It's a simple Disappearing 9 patch so it shouldn't take long.  It's in black and whites

He asked me for a black and white quilt so thought Christmas would be a good time to give it to him.   Of course if I don't get my tail in gear and get it done, he won't have it. lol  I have a number of other things get done too, so if this isn't finished I can give it to him for his birthday in March.  I would like to give it to him for Christmas though.  So gotta  get going:)  Have a great day everyone and God Bless!

Happy Pink Saturday!!  This week I have these lovely Jade plants that my friend in the Bay Area gave me when we went to visit.  Jeanette has a plant that is probably 3 or more feet in diameter and  close to 4 feet tall .  It's magnificient.  So Jeff cut me off a bunch of pieces and I came home and planted them!  All of them are growing!  The big one has 4 large one's in it and then there's two to three in each of the smal pots, incluging new one's growing from the leaves that fell off.  I have a variegated Jade that's about 18 inches tall and I love it.  These are going to catch up in no time at all at the rate they're going!

Jesus Christ Our Lord

I really would like to share an incredible thing that happened this past Saturday evening at Church.  We were all in prayer with our eyes closed and head down when the pastor asked those that would like to ask Jesus Christ  into their hearts to please put thei hand up and open their eyes.  Pastor was commenting on how happy he was and after a couple of minutes I put my head back down in prayer.  In another minute or so he was saying he excited he was about the gentleman that had raised his hand and all of a sudden he asked "are you two married?"  I raised my head and there was my husband Bert with his head up and his hand in the air as well.  I looked at him and then at Pastor Frank and back again.  I was smileing froom ear to ear.  Neither of us knew the other was going to do this, and the Pastor saw that it was quite obvious.  So unknown to one another we both accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts on Saturday night and it waas absolutely wonderful!  What a wonderful surprise for both of us.
