My Guardian Angel Here On Earth
I'm here to tell you about a very dear friend of mine. We'll call her Victoria. Ovarion Cancer struck her two years ago. That wasn't bad enough, after a complete hysterectomy her stay in the hospital was extended to almost a year and a half. She had heart complications on four occasions due to reaction to med's. She had four or five severe infections brought on by bacteria she contracted in the hospital., not to mention all the complications brought on from all of that. Victoria also had four blood clots that had to be treated that were life threatening. Since she has been home, she's been back to the hospital several times with various complications, and on top of that, she's on her second round of chemo therapy.
She has good reports right now and two more treatments left. The thing that has absolutely amazed me, is that at her worst time, she managed to keep a positive outlook. She has been as much a support to her friends as they have been to her.
When we talked the other night, I told her I had to go in for a biopsy after something showed up on my Sonogram. She said to me, "I know I can tell you don't be scared, but you will be, I know I can tell you not to worry but you will, but what I CAN tell you is look at me. I'm still alive:)" That was the most supportive thing I've been told. I've had friends say it's nothing, and those that have been very supportive. I know it's probably a minor thing and at this point I'm not reeally too worried about it. I'll save that for after the biopsy:)
Victoria has always been there beside me through thick and thin for almost 60 years. We've been together since grammar school, divorce and up to now. I have to tell you, she's been my Guardian Angel here on earth. There no matter what, and GUESS WHAT? She has hair again:)

Small Elephant Collection
When I was a little girl, my Great Aunt Jo had this incredible collection of elephants. After we moved from Long Beach to Vacaville (CA) it was sometime after that she gave it away. I never knew who got them. Anyway, I have a small collection started and my mother in law was the one that got me started with them. She gave me my first one.
This one is very light weight almost like it's paper machet. I'm not real sure what it's made of, but it's lovely.
This one with it's young is hand carved. I don't know what the wood is, but I know I used to have some hand carved fruit from the Philipine Islands that was similar.
Another hand carved. These little guys are going in a circle:)
This mother and young are also hand carved. Actually they all are, even the Jade one's that I have.
This is hand carved Jade and believe it or not they're done by children in India. They have wooden tools to work with. Not only is it the larger elephant but if you look closely you'll see an elephant carved on the inside of the large elephant. These next few are all like that. Different poses and different sizes but all hand carved with wooden tools.
This is my favorite. Nan gave me this one first.
I have earrings, hair clips and bracelets of elephants too. I hope to continue to add to this collection and one day it will go to my Grandson who loves it.

My Sister Is Here
My sister Loretta is here from Montana and last night we headed out to Joann's to see what we could find. They have their usual good sale going on. Well, I hate to admit it, but that is the first time I've ever gone into Joann's and not purchased a thing. Wow, hell didn't freeze over either. lol We had a great time though. I can't tell you how many books we looked at trying to find one that I really liked on card making and she was looking for one in particular about quilting. Tonight, my brother, hubby, Loretta and I are going to dinner and totally pig out.:)

Black and White Quilt for Grandson
Below are the pictures of the ffabric's I have for a black and white, quilt for my grandson. He's been asking for one for quite some time now. I thought this is a good time to start one and maybe get it finished for Christmas. I'm going to do the Disappearing 9 Patch and use the white on black as the center square. I think that will look pretty good. I'll do a couple of blocks first and see how it goes.
These are the one's I have so far. I do have few fat quarters that I might throw in there. Gail suggested I throw in some teals, touquise maybe and something else to offset it. My grandson was adament about it being black and white though. Maybe a little red where you cut the center square into quarters??? What do you think. I'm open for suggestions. Thanks for any input! Have a great week everyone.
Flannel Quilt for Granny
This is the final (for now) quilt that I'm making for my friend with the new grandson, Connor. I hope to get it on the frame today and quilted by tomorrow, then I can do the binding and it's done.
Welcome to Pink Saturday! Be sure to go ovr to Beverly's How Sweet The Sound and check out all the wonderful bloggers that participate. You'll find some of the most creative works you've ever seen when you do.
Happy Pink Saturday everyone!

The Back and Front of the Quilts
This one is for Connor and will go to his Grandma's house:)
This one too is orange and green, completely by accident, but this one goes to the Grandma to keep at her house. Grandma's have to have their "baby stash" too, don't they? lol
This one is going to go to Connor too. The orange and the yellow are the same, just the sashing and backing colors are different. I have one more to make for Grandma, it's a red and white one that is really cute. It has black and white puppies on it. The top is done, but I have to get it loaded on the frame and quilted. Then of course do the binding. I'm hoping to have all that done by this week end some time. Happy Day everyone.
Took The Process Pledge
I took the Process Pledge today and thought I'm really giong to try and keep it up. I just finished the binding on three quilts for a friend. They're all three for her grandbaby, one is a baby quilt and the other two are a little larger than Crib size. They came out pretty good, but not without a lot of issues along the way. lol I have one more to do it's a red, red&white stripes, and black and white with red scarves on puppies. It's really cute. It's flannel so won't be used till winter I'm sure. It's almost the size of a twin bed though, so it can be put on the floor and the baby can lay there and play. He's just turning two months old now. I'll post pictures of them later today. Have a great day all!
Pledge
I, Candi_Harris, pledge to talk more about my processes, even when I can’t quite put them in the in words or be sure I’m being totally clear. I’m going to put my thinking and my gut feelings out there.

Happy Pink Saturday! Be sure and stop by Beverly's How Sweet The Sound and check out the blogs that are posting for Pink Saturday. They are some truly awesome blogs!! I'm introducing you to the two newest members of our Halloween Collection! lol We've named them Jolly and Molly. We decorate for Halloween almost as much as we do for Christmas, so things that are out during the year all get put away from Oct. till January. It's a lot of fun. Keeps the dogs on their toes. They have to have their time bark at the new things that we get.
This is a picture I just love. It's my Great Aunt Jo in a sailor suit. If you look closely you can see a bag of Bull Derm peaking out of her pocket. lol She was quite a lady. She survived the San Francisco Earthquake back in 1906; She was the first woman to ever ride cross county in pants on the train; She started the waitress union in Southern CA and came up to N. CA to start it here. That is only a few of her accomplishments. She traveled all over the US. I sure do miss her, even to this day. We lost her when she turned 93 I believe it was in 1977.

New Look
Hello all:) As you can see I'm trying to get a new look on my blog, having one heck of a time. I can see it in my head but can't seem to put it together. I'm having the most trouble with the posts. Either they're looooong and skinny or take up the whole page. lol Maybe if I knew what I was doing it would make a big difference. Us novices that try to take on the job of doing this (I don't care how easy they make it, it's not that easy for me.) need our heads examined! lol
Well, I'll keep at it until I get it right. whoo hooo I'm a die hard. lol
