What a Wonderful Surprise

You know, I've been terrible about posting here lately. I got this beautiful little PINK crocheted bag from Susan at Crazy Quilting 4 fun, before Christmas even. I absolutely love it and though I've told Susan that, I hadn't posted it like I wanted. At first I used it for my Cell phone (I have a Treo and it gets bulky sometimes) but then I discovered my camera fits in it just perfectly! I now have my camera in it and carry it in my purse. Susan also sent me some beautiful plaid fabric and thread that I just love. Thanks soooo much lady, you are such a sweetheart and I'm so grateful you're in my life.

Look What The Postman Delivered

What a wonderful surprise I received from Lindy today! Some red and green gorgeous fabric, some Christmas goodies to decorate with, a lovely doily to stitch and CQ on and a darling little book when opened is a notepad with a pencil! Thank you Lindy I love each and every one of them:) OH!! She also sent the most beautiful Christmas card. It's a keeper:)

Barbara loved her quilt

We had Christmas Day at my broher Frank's house again this year. I'd been working on this quilt for my dear friend Barbara for so long and had been devastated when it came back from the machine quilter's with a bad outcome. I did what I could to repair it and by the time the binding was on the front was fine but the back had some bad pleats and puckers in it. :( (I was beyond words it was so upsetting) Anyway, Barbara loved it anyway. I gave it to her with the story and told her I was going to make her another one. She wouldn't hear of it. She called me last night when she was home in bed WITH the quilt on her bed cuddled under it:)
There's as good a picture as we could get on my QuiltsnThings We had a GREAT day with the family that was there.

Kitty Kat fabric

Yesterday we went to Davis and my dear friend Barb bought me some fabric from The Pincushion. You can stay in there for hours just looking, I fell in love with the place! Anyway, it's kitty kat fabric and I wanted to share it because I thought it was so darn cute:) It's a newspaper with the cats as the subjects rather than people. The other picture is the rest of the fat quarter package. I just love every one of the fabrics!

Block for Anything Goes RR

I forgot to take a pictue of my block for the Anything Goes RR at CQI, so Jeanne was kind enough to send me one. :) What appears to be blue is actually lavender and purple. I think this is really going to be a fun RR and I'll be posting as we go along:)

Healing Quilt for Maureen Curlewis

A Healing Quilt is being made for Maureen who recently lost her husband. This is my block with the stitchiing finished. I still need to back it and put ties on the corners. We've had a lot of losses on the various sites this year so it's really been a rough year for a lot of us. The way the prayers and support go out is just amazing! What a wonderful bunch of ladies on all of these groups.:)

Sewing Table Completed

A couple of years ago my brother gave me an antique drop leaf table. I had planned on just painting it white and letting it go at that. BUT by the time I got through stripping it down and sanding it, I decided I'd put far too much work into it to do that. So I stained and varnished it. It's now in my sewing room with my sewing machine sitting proudly atop it:) I have my dinning room table back (where I used to sew all the time.) I'm lovin' it:)

Post Card #2 Complete

Woohoo I finished my 2nd post card for the Scrumptuous Surfaces Class last night. (Better late than never:) Unfortunately I had all ready framed it when I realized I forgot to scan it. But this shows the frames they're both in anyway. The frames set them off as both post cards are about family and love from our trips to the ocean. I'm pleased with both of them and so happy to have them done:)

First Attempt at Tatting

Thanks to Charlene I decided I was going to try my hand at tatting. Well the book and needles came yesterday, so of course I jumped right in there last night. This is my first attempt, not bad, but have a ways to go before I can make a butterfly:)

Fabric & Ribbon dyed Last Night

Last night was my second attempt at mottling with fabric dying. I attempted to match the ribbon to it to. The good part is I'm really happy the way they came out, the bad thing is I planned on leaving them sit in the dye over night. However, about midnight I couldn't stand it any longer. I couldn't go to sleep till I got up and rinsed them out to see! Patience obviously is NOT one of my virtues. lol (I think I used it all up on my kids when they were young!lol)

Scrumptuous Surfaces Project Complete

Well, I think my post card is finished. When I posted it last time, Sharon suggested I add more french knots to it. So I did that and did the outline. The outline looks crooked, however, it's pinned on the wall and the fabric doesn't hang to well. The PC is a little heavy with all the embellishments. lol

Hearts for COH

Well, now I have two posts alike! lol The one below will be gone hopefully within 24 hours. After I posted the pic's I realized I hadn't trimmed the hearts yet and they looked awful!! Now they're done right. lol Anyway, last winter I joined the Chain of Hearts Group. Due to some family losses it was several months before I was able to start anything new. I was able to finish up most of my commitments and now I have these the herts finished and several others in the making:) woohoo:)

Almost Complete:)

I'm almost done with my post card:-) I added more beads and more shells today, so I'm real happy with the outcome. I still need to do the edge of the post card but I'm not sure how I want to do it. This one is going into a frame rather than a completed card. But right now I'm doing the happy happy dance:)

Lesson 3 in Scrumptuous Surfaces

Well, this is where I'm at on lesson 3 in the Scrumtuous Surfaces class. Problem is...I feel like I've lost my shell and starfish somewhat in the process. I think there's more work to do, but not sure what to do. Susan suggested reoutlining the shell and starfish possibly with a single or double thread darker than is all ready on there. That might be the key. I think I'm going to put it away for the night and go back to it tomorrow. By the way, that's an upside down set of dolphins that got hung up on the scanner. lol

Hearts for SOH

Here are my remaining hearts for the SOH. First one is August for Karen K., Second is Sept. for Jaki, Third is Oct. for Peggy, fourth, is Nov. for Lori an the the last one is Dec. for Linda:) Hope you ladies like them. They're going in the mail tomorrow to Linda. It's really been fun:)

Matt & Sam's Promised Quilts

Almost have the grandkids quilts finished. The poiple is of course for Samantha and the Halloween for Matthew. I got Sam's Halloween quilt done last year but wasn't able to finish Matthew's. It was a little hard working full time and getting them done. I finished Matthews quilt for his bedroom but didn't quite get Sam's done. Now they're both at the same point...need to be quilted and the edging done. woohoo I'm tickled pink.:) Both are the same simple pattern but boy when you don't have enough hours in the day, it doesn't matter how simple it is! lol

Wow! What A Day For Surprises!!!

Talk about a day of surprises!!! This month our Secret Sis group comes to a close and we reveal ourselves. I received the most beautiful pincushion from Kathy Henry, my Secret Sis!!! The top photo is the front of the it, the second one is the bottom (JUST as pretty as the top!:) ) What a delightful lady she is! A wonderful sense of humor, very very talented in so many areas, and sure did know what I liked! Thank you Kathy.
Then my dear dear friend Barbara Rio knew I was going to be doing a visual journal for my Sumptuous Surfaces class and she got me a Sketch Kit! It has everything in it a body could possibly need to learn to sketch! Thanks Barb it's awesome!
THEN, the postman brought me a package from Thelma Bradshaw full of threads and beads for the SS class we're taking! You're so generous Thelma, thank you!!
So it's been quite a day for me..wow!

Sumptuous Surfaces Class with Sharon Boggons

I decided to go with the Ocean and Beach. We spent many happy and loving times at Shelter Cove, Bodega Bay, and Pt. Reyes, on the CA Coastline. We also raised horses at one time. Thus, the seahorse. He kind of combines the the horses with my connection to the ocean. We all spent hours exploring and finding areas that were full of colorful sea urchins as well as starfish galore. The kids decided to take some starfish home and layed them on the sidewalk with salt on them. This they were told would keep them from smelling....NOT It was the worst odor to get rid of! lol Fishing in the ocean there, eating it fresh cooked over an open fire, all the wonderful memories really set this up. Not only that my DH and I honeymooned at Shelter Cove. (Along with an army of Racoons!) :)

Goodies from my sister Loretta

I emailed my sister Loretta the other day and asked her if she would make me a leather thimble (like the one she made for herself). Well today this package arrived not only with the thimble but with a whole bunch of goodies! I'm still going through and playing with the buttons! :) That'll keep me busy for a while They're all just GREAT! Thank you Loretta I love them all.
