QUILTING

My quilting machine has been giving me fits for quite a while now.  The other day it was had rail road tracks on the back, then the thread kept breaking no matter what I did!  I was sooooo frustrated.   I finally got half a quilt done last night, only took me over three hours, between the frogging etc.  Anyway, got up this morning and  started in again and finished the pink quilt.  I had done a blue and white one the other day but the quilting looked so bad because of the way the machine kept breaking thread, I was just sick.  Then after I finished the pink one it went so smooth I loaded another of the kdis quilts and got it done!   Whooo hooo now I have three to bind, but I'm really happy they did that well.  Here's a picture of the three of them.

Quilts for Kids

Some of you know that I do quilts for kids and teens.  Well, I"m selling the Scentsy in order to earn money to pay for the fabric's.  It tends to get a little expensive.:)  As we all know, especially with costs rising.  Anytime you see a party that says Quilts for Kids as the host you know that's what that one is.  There will be other folks hosting parties and they will earn goodies for doing it. (some nice one's I might add), so those will be used to restock the Scentsy I sell for the quilts.  Otherwise it will go to kids quilts.  I just wanted to get that out there and let you all know.   You can also go to my website  http://candiharris.scentsy.us/ and place an order and if there's one that says Jo & Candi, that too is for kids.  Thank you everyone.

Email Hacked!

YIKES!!!  My email has been hacked and it's sending out rude emails to folks.  It's a website in Canada somewhere.  Please if you get it, don't click on it, just delete it.  I'm trying to get through to AOL to change my password and thus far, not much luck.  I keep getting an error message and try again later.  I'm so sorry for anyone that has received this.

Have You Ever Seen Fabric So Awesome!

I haven't been able to decide how to make a quilt out of this fabric without losing the beauty of it.  So I think what I'm going to do is leave it, embillish it with stitching and put a binding on it.   I just love this.  It was a birthday gift from a friend several years ago and have been saving it.

Blue and white Quilt

This is a quilt for someone who is very special, I got the top all done, I need to press it real good yet, and buy the backing.  I'm hoping she likes it and hope to have it completed next week sometime.
PS
It's good to be back here posting with pictures! lol

Pictures are BAAAACK! lol

My new design wall is fantastic!!!
I love it love it love it!   I'm moving my good Janome in there on a small table to sew the pieces together, taking them right off the wall.  So I don't have to go from the dinning room into this room and back.  What a pain that would be. lol
Well, this is also a shsock!  I haven't been able to post pictures on her for several months now and all of a sudden it's working again.  Go figure!  I started a Live Journal that's why. lolol   We'll see how it goes.
Hi to everyone I haven't talked to in ages.

Sam's Quilt Is Coming Along

My granddaughter Samantha is learning to machine quilt and she really does love it.  She's also very good at it.  Took to it like a duck to water.  Her stitches are pretty even, probably better than mine! lol I'm trying to post a picture but blogger won't let me, so I'll have to come back later and do that.

CQI and Patchwork Tsushin

We have all been touched in some way by the many tragedies of the recent earthquakes and tsunami in Japan. At Crazy Quilting International, I am coordinating a project with Patchwork Tsushin that is open to ALL quilters (traditional and crazy quilters). I welcome others to publish this project on their blogs or facebook pages to maximize exposure. The detailed guidelines are below. I look forward to seeing all the gorgeous work of our talented quilters!!

This project is dedicated to helping those affected by the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan. In collaboration with Patchwork Tsushin, all quilts will become a part of an exhibit in quilt shows in Japan, where money will be raised by viewing the quilts. Ultimately, these quilts may be auctioned and the proceeds given to a charity designated by Hideko Ishida, our Japanese CQ sister! We will keep everyone informed as time progresses. This project is open to the quilting community at large, you may track details on the Crazy Quilting International blog, http://crazyquiltinginternational.blogspot.com or the ICQA Facebook page http://tinyurl.com/4h3x28a .

Guidelines are as follows:

Theme: Friendship and re-building of a country

Finished block size: 8 inches

Colors: Jewel Tones

Style: traditional or crazy quilt blocks will be accepted

For traditional quilt blocks, there are no pattern restrictions. The only requirements are the size and the colors. Finished size is to be 8" (20.32 cm). Please allow a half inch for seam allowance and squaring the block. Colors are jewel tones. No restrictions to the type of fabric used.

For crazy quilt blocks:

Cut foundation at 9" (22.86 cm), piece the entire foundation.

Baste a line at 8" (20.32 cm) to stop embroidering.

Do not add beads or charms past 7 ½" (19.05 cm).

Zig zag edges to prevent edges from fraying.

Add your name and address on the back of the block.

Mark the block with “UP” to show which side is the top.

Prefer all fabrics used be “fancies” (i.e.: silk, satin, taffeta, velvet) but if you have some kimono fabrics or other oriental themed fabrics in your stash you are welcome to use them.

All beading MUST be double stitched and knotted with BEADING THREAD!!! NO exceptions!!! These items will be handled a great deal and beads, buttons, charms are among the first to begin to loosen.

Embellishments – may be done by machine or by hand.

Lace and other motifs are acceptable and must be securely attached.

Trims are acceptable and must be securely attached.

SRE is acceptable.

Tatting and crocheted motifs, etc are acceptable and must be securely attached.

Please refrain from using any reference to the rising sun as this has political connotations in Japan.

If you have any questions, at any time, please just email me or call me; Leslie pinyoncreekq@q.com. All completed projects will be mailed to me no later than June 30, 2011. Please contact me for mailing address information.

I am asking for a voluntary entry fee of $10.00 dollars for each block. These fees will be accrued and utilized (if necessary) for backing and mailing costs. It is my hope that I will be able to simply forward to either Hideko Ishida or a charity of her choosing. It is also acceptable to apply this fee to an entire group or several individuals if need be. I primarily would like blocks at this time!

Funds can be sent vis a vis check, money order (payable to ICQA) or Paypal, icqa4u@yahoo.com. Please check gift for the donation. I appreciate everyone’s participation and look forward to seeing all the fabulous creations!

My Granddaughter Samantha Learning To Quilt

Well darn, Blogger won't let me post any pictures, so I'll have to come back later and show you the pictures of Sam quilting for the very first time.  She did absolutely wonderful!  She did loops and stars to start off and they are great.  I have a pcture of her and her stars.  She likes the chubby little stars and they're great.  So I'll be back later to post the pictures.  I'm going to try shutting down and restarting my computer to see if that helps.

Anyway, I'll try really hard to put the pic's in later.  I'll be checking through out the day.  In the meantime, be sure to go by and visit Beverly at How Sweet The Sound(http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/pink-saturday/   Look at all th ewonderful things that have been posted for this Easter Saturday.   Have a wonderful Easter and remember what it's all about.  Jesus died for our Sins and we praise him.

Pink Saturday

Welcome to Pink Saturday everyone.  It's been a while since I've posted.  I was sick for almost two months and then trying to catch back up with everything and of course life got in the way too. lol  Here I am and so happy to be back though.  Be sure you go by Beverly's How Sweet The Sound

This is the pink quilt I've been working on.  It started out as a comfort quilt and has turned
into a queen size quilt. lol  I think I got a little carried away.  I was having
fun with the pinks and next thing I knew, there it was.  It does need
a couple of borders to make it a little wider but the length
is just fine.  I have another one on the frame
right now so this one will wait a while.
This is a sweet little spring TeaPot that I have and I just love it.  Just
looking at it makes me think of the wonderfl days we have
ahead of us.  Right now it's one storm after another
that we're dealing with but hopeflly that will
be over before too much more.

Happy Pink Saturday Everyone!

Nursery Quilts

Well, I'm at work so I can't pull up any pictures to post but I can do that when I get home later.  I'm making  much needed quilts for the nursery here at church.  I've got about 14 or more ready to quilt and just finished the second one.  So hopefully this week end I'll be able to quilt several and then I can sit back and stitch the binding on when I'm here.  (In between work that is.)  When I get home today I'll try to remember to take some pictures, thinking of it and doing it are two different things.  I think about it here but when I get home I tend to forget, so I just wrote myself a little note.

I'm also on a Yahoo group that has been making hearts to swap.  What we do is, each month everyone makes one heart and then there is a name drawn to see who gets them that month.    Of course then that name is taken out of the drawing and she draws the next winner.  This month Rose Anne won the hearts so she will pick next months winner.  Pretty cool huh?  We're going to do a second round of it, so we'll all have enough to make a wall hanging or something we'd like to do with them.

Ok, it's back to work, so I've written myself a note to take pictures when I get home.

Have a great day and a great week end!

My Pink Quilt that started out as a Comfort Quilt

All these years
I've been quilting and I have two quilts. No, make that three.  One is a Christmas Quilt, the other is a Halloween Quilt and the third is one made of primary color blocks when my 18 year old grandson was born.   I haven't kept any for myself.  Well, I LOVE pink and I started out making this pink quilt for myself as a comfort quilt, but it kind of kept growing and growing and growing.  Now it needs to grow two more borders,  A two inch and a three inch. lol  So I pulled some pink out of my stash and I'll try and get those on this week.  THEN  I will put it in line to quilt it.  I'm quilting a "HUGS" quilt, and then I have some children's quilts to do first, then I can do this one for my bedroom.   So we'll start the spring off with a pretty pink quilt on our bed.  Thank goodness I have an easy going sweetheart of a husband.  Have a great week everyone.
