This one is very light weight almost like it's paper machet. I'm not real sure what it's made of, but it's lovely.
This one with it's young is hand carved. I don't know what the wood is, but I know I used to have some hand carved fruit from the Philipine Islands that was similar.
Another hand carved. These little guys are going in a circle:)
This mother and young are also hand carved. Actually they all are, even the Jade one's that I have.
This is hand carved Jade and believe it or not they're done by children in India. They have wooden tools to work with. Not only is it the larger elephant but if you look closely you'll see an elephant carved on the inside of the large elephant. These next few are all like that. Different poses and different sizes but all hand carved with wooden tools.
This is my favorite. Nan gave me this one first.
I have earrings, hair clips and bracelets of elephants too. I hope to continue to add to this collection and one day it will go to my Grandson who loves it.

What gorgeous carved jade elephants. They are absolutely stunning and such a treat. I could look at them for a long time, but of course I would really like to pick one up and hold it to examine it. What a fun collection!
Happy belated Pink Day.
Thank you for stopping by my blog yesterday....it's nice to "meet" you.

Blessings on your day,

Cute, 'phunties'. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Hi Candi, I love you elephants and the story behind them. My Uncle collected them and had so many he asked us to stop giving them to him. He was hard to buy for so we were bummed when we had to stop. HA! They were all sold at the auction when he passed away. I loved him dearly.
I'm going to check out your giveaway.
Hugs, Jeanne
Hi Candi,
What a great collection..they are beautiful.
Thanks so much for visiting with me and for your kind comment.
Happy Day,
Stephanie ♥
What fun! An elephant collection. Our guest room has a kind of Ernest Hemmingway/ British Colonial vibe going on in it and I have brass elephants on the window sill, a cute little decoupaged elephant and an elephant night lite. It's a fun room. xoxo
What a gorgeous collection of elephants! It's always nice to see someone else's collection. I've been collecting them for 20 years or so.
Love to see other people's elephant collections!! I've been collecting for 30-some years and have over 1100 -- it's addicting and there's always another one that's different . . . like yours -- I have one of the smaller stone-carved elephants with another elephant inside and I have one carved from sandalwood (gift from friend who went to India). My elephants are a constant joy (even the dusting which takes me a whole day!!).
I have a jade elephant like one you have, the one with the smaller one inside of a big one. A woman my mother knew from India gave ti to me.
